Passenger Facilities

Derby is a fully staffed station. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket office or from ticket machines

There are lifts from both entrances to the overbridge and down to each platform. There is also a subway to platforms 1 to 5.

There are toilets situated on each platform

There are over 200 cycle parking spaces including a secure cycle shelter adjacent to the main station entrance accessed using key-fobs which are available for a one-off ‘nominal’ fee from the ticket office

Getting to and from Derby Station

Follow the signed walking route from opposite the front of Derby Station for a five minute walk into the Derbion Shopping Centre.

For a slightly longer riverside stroll or cycle into the city centre follow the Derby Riverside Path via Bass Recreation Ground and Derby River Gardens, to Cathedral Green and The Silk Mill.

The Pride Park exit passes the Derby Roundhouse and provides walking and cycling routes around Pride Park, including to Derby County’s football ground and the Derby Arena, which are a 15 to 20 minute walk from the station.

Parking at the Station

East Midlands Railway operate three large car parks, which include disabled parking.  Parking charges vary dependent on the time of day and include £14.50 daily on weekdays before 10am, £7.50 after 10am and anytime at weekends and £2.00 evening rate between 1800 and 0230. A weekly ticket is £53 and monthly £169.

Local Bus Services from Derby (120 WORDS MAX)

From the bus interchange outside the main station entrance there are frequent buses into Derby City Centre, to other parts of the city and to East Midlands Airport.

Into the City Centre, services 1 and 1A run every 5 to 10 minutes. These buses also serve the south and east of the city including Allenton and Alvaston.  From Derby city centre, other bus services can be caught to areas throughout Derby and the surrounding area.

University of Derby operates services 6 Monday to Friday during University Term Time, with a 10 minute’ frequency during most of the day.

The Skylink service operates direct to East Midlands Airport 24/7 with buses every 20 minutes between 6am and 8pm Monday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sunday.

There are less frequent services to Aston on Trent (73) and Ashbourne and Kedleston (114) including one summer Saturday service direct to and from Kedleston Hall.

From London Road Community Hospital (5 minute walk from the station) the ‘Royal Derby’ operates Monday to Friday to the main Royal Derby Hospital every 12 minutes during most of the day.

When trains are replaced by buses. road replacement services operate from Roundhouse Road, outside the Pride Park entrance to the station.
