Cromford Canal

Cromford Canal is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is a haven for water vole

Cromford Wharf, the terminus of the Cromford Canal is a five minute walk from the station. From here, it is a popular walk of 2.5 miles to Whatstandwell Station and 5 miles to Ambergate Station.  The canal closely follows the route of the railway making it easy to re-join the train from either station.

The canal is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is a haven for water vole, grass snakes, little grebes, moorhen and coots. The canal towpath is level and step free throughout, but the path is narrow and uneven in places. The walk from Cromford Wharf to High Peak Junction is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
